Rémi Tessier or the determined career of a nonconformistInterior architect, designer, gallery owner...The story of Rémi Tessier is that of an audacious and an eclectic man, a creator always on the move. It all starts in 1979 with an initiation voyage as, at the age of 15, he sets out on the mythical Tour de France of trade guilds. Thanks to this great "school of the concrete" inherited from the Middle Ages, this wood-lover fulfils a dream he had as a child: learning how to make a piece of furniture yourself. He takes up an apprenticeship - cabinet making - but at the same time learns about caring for managing projects, striving for quality and expertise, loving the different materials as well as a work well-done. Then, seven years later, he takes the unexpected decision to leave his workshop to explore foreign lands, and follows his route, out of boldness and curiosity.
On top of being highly qualified as a craftsman, the 23 year-old rebel apprentice suddenly decides he will be an interior architect in 1988 and sets up his own agency in Lyon: Dernier Etage. It is an entirely new experience, but because he knows materials so well and is so strongly determined, he picks up the trade in no time. Quickly, the self-taught architect or rather, as he likes to put it, someone "who has learnt how to learn", becomes fully skilled and is put in charge of very different projects. Today, Rémi Tessier designs and supervises all kinds of work from Paris to Monaco, Lyon to Nice or London to Geneva. He can already claim having worked for private residences (apartments, private mansions, villas, yachts) as well as for public spaces (registered offices, agencies, shops), and the great success he has had within his profession and with the media has legitimated his choices. That's why Rémi Tessier has acquired an international notoriety on Interior Design in private yachts for a prestigious clientèle.
